Dorothy Day was an American journalist and Roman Catholic reformer. Day worked for several newspapers with strong political ideas. In 1933, she co-founded the Catholic Worker, which goal was to spread the news about the program of social reconstruction she was participating in. The program offered houses to the urban poor and was based on communal farming. Day practiced Catholic socioeconomic teaching known as distributism, which would be a third option between socialism and capitalism.
