Cat Stevens is a British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Stevens has dedicated his life towards humanitarian work. He helped to found the Muslim Aid charity and he founded a Muslim primary school in North London. Furthermore, Stevens and his wife, Fawziah, established the Small Kindness charity in response to the devastating conflicts in the Balkans. The charity focused its efforts on the needs of orphans, widows, and families. At this time he also began producing educational recordings on his own label. He is awarded the World Award for ‘’humanitarian relief work helping children and victims of war’’. He was also presented Man of Peace Award on behalf of a committee of Nobel peace laureates for his ‘’dedication to promote peace, the reconciliation of people and to condemn terrorism’’. He received the Honorary Award of German Sustainability Award and Global Islamic Economy Awards for contributions towards peace through the Arts. Steiger Awards honored him in the category ‘’international’’ for his commitment to charitable projects.
