Angelina Jolie is an American actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian. Jolie has spent almost two decades working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), has been on field missions around the world, and met with refugees in more than 20 countries. The Jolie-Pitt Foundation, dedicated to eradicating extreme rural poverty, protecting natural resources, and conserving wildlife, donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, an organization that provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe. Jolie also co-chairs the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which helps fund education programs for children affected by conflict. She was awarded many times for her humanitarian work. She was the first recipient of the Citizen of the World Award by the United Nations Correspondents Association and she received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
