Dear follower of the Peace Museum,
After a month of my staying here at the Peace Museum Vienna I am glad to announce you that the temporary exhibition on the Italian Peace Heroes has been set up! I decided to focus on some more known activists, journalists and politicians that were a model for me and my generation to then move forward and include some emerging peace heroes that dedicated their lives to equality, inclusion and climate change. Three red lines could be set up in this exhibition: political fights for rights and freedom, migration, and the newborn activism of young people with Fridays for Future. This way I collected some stories of antifascism, radical politicians and anarchists which shaped the history of civil rights in Italy. Then, I focused on the fight against inequalities in Italy and in the world with the stories of the founder of Emergency, journalists, politicians and writers who advocated for integration of migrants. Finally, the young activists that took inspiration from those older people and now pursue their own cause are also shown in this exhibition. The main aim of this exhibition is to teach how we all, of different ages, backgrounds, interests and characters, can learn from some other small actions pursued by some other people and reflect how those actions impacted the rest of the people around them. This exhibition is part of the Peace Education activities: we let our public know the deeds of ordinary people and more known people to inspire tourists and visitors, by giving them something to think about when they exit our museum.
