Dear readers of the Blog or inscribers to the Newsletter,
my time at the Peace Museum Vienna and Colorado passed by and soon the International Anti-Corruption Agency (IACA) will hire me for a second experience in Laxemburg. In those past five months I experienced a lot of knowldege on the field of communication, event managment and peace activism. I matured a level of responsability within the organisation and I started coaching the new volonteers about the activities of the Peace Museum Vienna. I especially took care of the communication between the Peace Museum Vienna and its partners, designed and wrote the newsletter you're currently reading, took care of the social media, organized some workshops in schools, and kept in touch with all volunteers. Peace Museum Vienna opened my mind to how education plays an essential role to reach peace. We have to start from children -primary school children, to be exact - to reach peace and tolerance one day. The power of education is able to stop the vitius circles of blood and violence in the hardest context, and I beleive, one of the main achievements of the Peace Museum Vienna is to teach children the concept of "Peace". For me Peace is the ability to tolerate and appreciate diversity, to find enriching the confrontation and dialogue with people that think differently and share a different belief. We all are fighting for such a just and even world, we just have to show children some part of this utopy exists already. Yours, Anita Micheli

Dear reader of this blog,
I am Anita Micheli and I am glad after this last month of resetting and planning, of reporting here the new trend we've started in the social media! We decided to MAKE PEACE VIRAL, by making fewer Peace Heroes per months, but with a new narrative and our own peace of art for each Peace Hero --> the result is called Stories of Peace and it will be cathalogued per country. What do you think about this new innovation? Write your opinion on the comments below! Yours, Anita Micheli Dear reader of the blog,
I am happy to announce a new exhibition at the Peace Museum Colorado from the beginning of 2023! All of you are welcomed to visit the exhibition on Colombian Peace Heroes, with a special characteristic: the bios of those peace heroes tell a different aspect of Colombia, analysing the situation through the life of our Peace Heroes. What are you waiting for learning some more peace activist from Colombia? Visit the exhibition and check our Metaverse gallery! I wait for your comments about the new stories of Peace Heroes! Do you rather those old style or the new one? Kind regards, Anita Dear reader of the Peace Hero Museum,
Happy new year from the Peace Hero Museum! But with the beginning of the upcoming year, new projects and changes are coming.
Everyone is welcome to send some new comments or write us to organize some new activities together. Both Peace Museum Vienna and Peace Museum Colorado - plus our Metaverse gallery in the future- will show our work in a new and unique way. Keep on following us in the social media and keep an eye on the website! Yours, Anita From November 28th, our new exhibition about the Iranian Peace Heroes will take place at the Peace Museum Vienna. However, due to the importance of this topic and our aim to educate people about peace and its values, we decided to not just host a traditional Peace Hero Exhibition, but to use the unique artwork of our volonteer and designer Arya Akhoundzadeh to connect all those different souls together, giving a new meaning to the concept of research for art and peace.
Moreover, people will have a chance to meet personally Arya, on December the 5th, when he will explain his artwork and will talk about himself. If you want to discover more about Arya's work or want to discover some new Iranian peace heroes, come and visit us in Vienna in December or look at our Metaverse gallery in the following weeks, where some of his artworks will be converted in NFTs. Dear followers of the Peace Hero Museums, we believe that after the difficulties shown by the pandemic and due to the evidence that most of our public are tourists that come to visit us in Vienna and Colorado, we decided a long ago to upgrade and create our own digital gallery. We decided to create this space in the Metaverse of Spatial.io, where we will be able to show our work in promoting Peace Education through Peace Heroes of different countries. Our first space have an exhibtion of Peace Heroes from Austria, Colombia, Egypt, El Salvador, Hungary, Italy, Ukraine and the USA. Have a look to this link to see all of them! If you never entered the Metaverse before, you'll be asked to have an avatar to costumize and through which you can go through our exhibition. To discover how to move around the space, check the question mark at the bottom of your screen on the right, there you can figure out all commands. Visit regularly our Metaverse gallery! https://www.spatial.io/s/PEACE-HERO-MUSEUM-633ad4eede99660001c0a73a?share=9213886637751539056 Dear followers of the Peace Hero Museum, on Saturday, November 19th, the Peace Museum Vienna hosted one of its main events: Peace Kitchen. It consists in gathering people from different cultures in our Museum to let them discover a typical meal from another country, to take the chance and show how we are all even and we share the same humanity. This historic event of the PMV is part of our Peace Education project: we try to show in front of a tasty meal how Peace starts from small things and to explain to our public how being curious of one another and being open to knowing each other is the ground for building up a better world.
This time we organized an Iranian Peace Kitchen in honor of our Iranian friend Behnaz Monfared, who has been hosting an exhibition here at the Peace Museum Vienna. She and our new volunteer Hedieh Hosseini cooked together a typical vegetarian Persian meal for us and the public! The lights of the current exhibition made us relax and favored communication about peace around the world. We specifically asked some of our guests what Peace means to them, discovering how such a concept is not easy to define and how many people share different words always the same perceptions. Dear followers of the Peace Hero Museum, the Light Memories exhibition has been on since yesterday 14th November 2022, and will be on until Thursday, November 24th.
Our volunteer from Peace Museum Teheran and dear friend Behnaz Monfared decided to make us all reflect on some deep moments of our past to study how those memories affect our mood still today. She called them Light Memories. According to the artist, a "Light memory" is a strong image in our mind that relates to the end of a dark period, such images is not just happy moment, but something that pushes us in our life by providing us with strong emotions and bringing up the same feelings and sensations we had when we were living it, therefore a light memory. This unique piece of art and internal research helps us be peaceful with the people around us despite the circumstances. Maybe even some of our Peace Heroes adopted this strategy to always see the bright side and fight for a better future and a better world. What is your light memory? Share it in the comments! The initial motto of the Peace Hero Museum when it opened in Vienna in 2014 was: "bring peace to the streets", we started this project with Peace Windows and we still try to inspire people and call them to action with our Peace Heroes. That's also why we were guests in the Paris Peace Forum: to get in touch with many initiatives and projects which try to foster peace, democracy, equality and transparancy all over the world, to translate them into small pieces, discovering the people behind it and explaining why each initiative is important.
We met important politicans, representative of the UN, Save the Children, the Red Cross and Amazon. But we also got in contact with multiple NGOs and projects on the field that needs to be advertised and promoted not just locally, but also globally. All of them were united by the same passion for peace, by the same urgency of action and these solution-oriented approaches. We interviewed some guests and some projects. Go through the gallery to see some picture of the Paris Peace Forum and see some of them! bDear followers of the Peace Hero Museums. An affirmed artist and friend came to visit us here at the Peace Museum Vienna for the following weeks. Behnaz Monfared is coming directly from Iran and has been a volonteer of the Peace Museum of Teheran for years. She is an artist with a vocation: spread the message of peace in the world through her designs. In order to do that she came up to Vienna with a unique, artistic research project. She will set the Museum differently, to let people reflect on Memories and Inner Peace.
If you're around, want to discover her artwork and get to know her, come to Blutgasse 3 from November 14th to November 19th. Moreover, the weekend at the end of the exhibition, Behnaz is going to cook for us! if you want to discover Persian food and culture, visit us on November 19th and 20th morning. Don't miss it and spread the word! |
